Daiichi Sankyo says it has introduced advanced AI models, including OpenFold-3, into its internal environment and provides them to researchers as cloud applications, adjusting models with the research organization so AI can be used in actual drug-discovery work.

Daiichi Sankyo says it has introduced AI agents into bioinformatics work and is using them to make exploration and analysis of life-science data more efficient and more advanced, while checking their usefulness on actual analysis work.

Daiichi Sankyo said on January 21, 2025 that it had established a San Diego laboratory dedicated to robotics, automation and software for drug discovery. The release says the laboratory will collect data so discovery work can draw on AI, and so scientists can use analytical tools that are based on AI.

Daiichi Sankyo says that, on its integrated data analysis platform, it provides an environment in which employees who are not engineers or data scientists can search and analyze clinical-trial information in everyday language by incorporating AI functions.

Daiichi Sankyo says that, going forward, it is renewing its safety database into a next-generation database that incorporates automation by AI, in order to make global pharmacovigilance operations more efficient and to strengthen analysis.

As part of its smart research lab work, Daiichi Sankyo says it has built AI into experimental equipment so that liquid-volume measurement and checks of the boundary between liquids, previously done by eye, can be done automatically in real time.

Daiichi Sankyo says that, as one part of its Healthcare-as-a-Service work, it has launched ReTabell, an AI-equipped menu-support site.

Daiichi Sankyo describes DS-GAI as its in-house generative AI system, with chat responses based on files and internal data and with image generation. The July 31, 2024 story says more than half of employees in Japan have experienced it and that the average number of daily users is already over 600.
